INVITING HARMONY – KID’s BOOK

Inviting Harmony is an illustrated children’s book for 4-8 year olds.  It introduces young readers to values of belonging, diversity, and multiculturalism.  Ideal for preschool and K-2 teachers to celebrate Harmony Day (held annually 21st March across Australia).

For 15 years, I’ve been a volunteer and/or working to promote multiculturalism.  Being born in the lucky country but from a Chinese background, and raising a daughter of a similar background, I am passionate about promoting values of celebrating diversity, and feeling a sense of belonging.

In speaking with kids and educators, this book was designed to engage through humour, that draws kids and adults to read together.  The story is driven by colourful (yet confusing!) Aussie slang, and set at a uniquely suburban Australian backyard BBQ.

The story helps kids (and adults) see differences are special and everyone belongs.
